Everett Griner talks about corn. The most researched and oldest cultivated crops in the world in today’s Agri View.

Corn is one of the oldest cultivated crops in the world. Maybe the oldest. Records go back 9,000 years. It china corn acreage plantedis also grown in more places than any other crop. But here is a surprise. More research has been done on corn than any other crop. Is there anything else? Well yes. It used to be a wider baste than other crops. And there is still a lot to be learned about corn. The foundation of America’s crop came from Mexico. But that foundation has spread to more parts of the the U.S. than any other commercial crop.  It isn’t a difficult crop to grow. But it has to be carefully monitored. It is probably the most studied crop grown by American farmers. Finally, it is one of the most beautiful crops grown here or anywhere.

That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner.
