Cathy Isom looks into the world of natural make-up. She gives you some foods that you can eat and also wear. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.
For women wanting more natural ingredients in make-up, instead of all of those chemicals that are hard to pronounce, look no further than say the produce aisle or a local farmer’s market. That’s because some foods that you love to eat can also be used as make up on your face and lips. Such as Blackberries. Their natural, colorful juices contains a beautiful, pinkish, slightly dark berry hue that you can use as a natural lipstick. Either take one fresh blackberry or let a frozen blackberry thaw for five minutes. Then rub a bit of the juice on your lips, and it will naturally stain them.
Cherries, like blackberries, also have beautiful hues that make a wonderful lip product. But you can use them as a blush too. Looking for more of a pinkish color. Raspberries will do the trick. They can be applied as a lip, blush or even an eye shadow. Strawberries would work similar to raspberries. So give those a try if you want something a little lighter in color.
Cacao is another food that can be used to make you shine. It’s good for your skin too, with rich rich amounts of sulfur, iron, zinc, and magnesium. Call it a super food and a super make-up. Cacao can be used as a natural eyeshadow or as a blush or bronzer. 100 percent cocoa powder as works well, too.
If you really want to be adventurous, try Spirulina powder. The deep sea algae with a magnificent green color, can be mixed with water to create a dark green eyeshadow or eyeliner.
