cotton-logoMemphis, TN — Bollworms are beginning to exhibit resistance to transgenic (Bt) varieties of cotton, which prompts the need for supplemental insecticides to minimize losses.

A new Focus on Cotton webcast titled “Changing Bt Technologies and Bollworm Management in Bt Cotton” helps cotton growers, consultants, and other industry experts monitor the potential impact of bollworm populations and determine when additional treatments may be advantageous. This 53-minute talk by David Kerns, Associate Professor at Louisiana State University, provides information that helps users:

• Thoroughly scout for bollworms and plant injury
• Identify critical infestation and injury thresholds
• Calculate the potential benefits of insecticide treatments

This presentation is available at no charge, courtesy of Cotton Incorporated, through the ‘Focus on Cotton’ webcast resource located at the Plant Management Network, ‘Focus on Cotton’ contains over 35 webcasts on various aspects of cotton crop management.
