If you read some of the statistics I do, you would be stunned. Talk about export trade. America is the world’s largest exporter. We export some of everything. But farm exports can befuddle even the experts. Here is what I mean. 2017 farm exports are forecast to be $133 billion. There are horticultural products, cotton, livestock and dairy products. Don’t forget poultry, oilseed and tree nuts. China is expected to be our biggest customer – just a shade ahead of Canada and Mexico. Now with all of that to think about, consider this. We import almost as much as we export. You know what is confusing is some of our imports are the same thing we export – fruits especially. But we don’t export coffee, tea or cocoa. Because, we don’t produce any of that.
That’s Agri View for today, I’m Everett Griner.
