October 2nd through October 8th is National 4-H Week. This year’s theme is “#4HGrown”. It’s a time for “shouting out” the successes of the previous year, plans for the future, recruiting new members and new leaders and honoring the achievements of the current members and volunteers. The 4-H name represents four personal development areas of focus for the organization: head, heart, hands, and health. The organization has over 6.5 million members in the United States, from ages 5 to 21, in approximately 90,000 clubs. The organization was founded back in 1902 and is administered by the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Throughout the world, 4-H organizations exist in over 50 countries. For more information about 4-H and National 4-H Week, go to 4-H.org.
