207 groups are urging Congress to leave Country of Origin Labeling alone in federal spending legislation that must be passed by Congress before the lame duck session comes to a close. The groups submitted the letter to U.S. Senators Barbara Mikulski and Richard Shelby, chairwoman and ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, urging committee leaders to reject efforts to repeal or weaken COOL. United States Cattlemen’s Association President Danni Beer said “The effort to weaken or repeal COOL is being led by a group of multi-national organizations who do not accurately reflect the American public’s view of COOL.”
