The 2013 Cattle Industry Summer Conference is wrapping up in Denver today with the meeting of the Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB). During the last couple of days, all checkoff program committees, plus the CBB Executive and Audit committees, the Joint Evaluation Committee, the Federation of State Beef Councils, and the Producer Communications Working Group met, both separately and together as one group, to review the status of ongoing checkoff programs and, primarily, to consider proposals for checkoff programs in Fiscal 2014, which begins Oct. 1, 2013. To maintain transparency of the Beef Checkoff Program, meeting materials and discussions are posted for public review to the My Beef Checkoff Meeting Blog throughout the conference. During the next week or two, results of those meetings — including committee recommendations for FY2014 Work Plans — will be added to the blog, so stay tuned.
