USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service in Alabama along with the the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service hosted a Working Lands for Wildlife event this past Friday, March 23rd at the Bob Pittman Farm in Mobile County.

The event was held to announce a partnership opportunity for landowners to voluntarily restore and protect habitat for the gopher tortoise as it kicked off the sign-up for the Working Lands for Wildlife initiative, a program targeting at-risk wildlife species across the country. Dr. William E. Puckett, Alabama NRCS state conservationist, explains what the new program is all about.
