Monsanto Holds Deltapine NPE Summit

Monsanto held their Delta Pine “New Product Evaluation” summit this past weekend in Savannah, Georgia. Some 145 growers from across the cotton belt attended to hear talks on topics ranging from weed management, seed treatments, to the announcement of the class of 2011 varieties.

Dave RhylanderI also had a chance to catch up with Dave Rhylander, Monsanto’s Marketing Lead for Deltapine Cotton Seed, as we discusssed the overall event and the message they want growers to know about their efforts.

Dave AlbersDuring the event, Monsanto announced that two new cotton varieties are being commercialized for the Deltapine class of 2011, DP 1133 B2RF and DP 1137 B2RF. Dave Albers, Cotton Germplasm Development Manager, talked about the variety growers here in the Southeast want to learn more about.

Dr. Alan YorkAnother speaker at the NPE Summit was Dr. Alan York with North Carolina State University who talked quite a bit about herbicide resistance problems especially with palmer-amaranth.
