Pre-Registration Urged for Next Round of EPA Water Hearings in FLA

Gary Cooper Citrus, Florida, General, Sugar

Lots of crowing going on throughout agriculture and many other circles this week as preregistration is now open for the next round of public hearings on EPA’s proposed water quality standards for Florida’s lakes and flowing waters. The hearings are set for April 13, 14 & 15 in Ft. Myers, Tampa & Jacksonville respectively. Preregistration will close on April 8, 2010.
As reported earlier, EPA added these hearings as a result of unprecedented statewide concerns heard at the previous three days of hearings a few weeks ago. EPA strongly encourages preregistration to speak at a hearing. A large number of participants are expected. Everyone attending will be given opportunity to speak, but those preregistered will be able to speak first.
To register for the hearings, please go to: http://www.epa.gov/waterscience/standards/rules/florida/information/ and click on “Preregister for a hearing”.

If you or someone you know cannot register online, preregistration is available by phone at 202-431-2282.
