FFA to Honor Two Florida Farm Bureau Leaders

The National FFA Organization will honor Florida Farm Bureau President John L. Hoblick and Assistant to the President Pat Cockrell at its 82nd National Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.


Hoblick will receive the honorary American Farmer Degree and Cockrell will be awarded the VIP Citation. The awards recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to agricultural education/FFA. The presentations will be made during the fourth convention session, which begins at 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 23 in Conseco Fieldhouse. Hoblick, a Volusia County fern producer, has served as president of the Florida Farm Bureau Federation since 2006. Cockrell, who joined the Federation in 1975, served as a field representative, director of Agricultural Policy, director of Field Services and executive director before being appointed Assistant to the President in 2008.

The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, is a national youth organization of 507,763 student members – all preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture – as part of 7,439 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
