New Citrus Mite Found in Florida; Researchers Investigate

 University of Florida entomologist Michael RogersUniversity of Florida entomologist Michael Rogers reports that researchers want to learn if a new mite found in Florida, Diptilomiopus Assamica, will cause the citrus industry a problem. The find in Broward County in fall 2008 was the first North American find of this mite that is similar to citrus rust mite or pink citrus mite.
