There is some recent progress on overhauling the food safety system as the House Energy and Commerce panel has approved a food safety bill allowing the Food and Drug Administration to implement mandatory food quarantines and increase frequency of inspections at food facilities. Meanwhile Senator Saxby Chambliss has also proposed food safety legislation on the senate side.
