Charles Goodman Harman, 73 of Arcadia, Florida passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007 in Punta Gorda, Florida. He was born January 24, 1934 in Tifton, Georgia. He was raised from the age of 3 by a loving aunt and uncle, Harriett and Byron Southwell in Tifton, Georgia. Charles moved to Arcadia in 1967 from Lake Port, FL. He served in the U.S Army, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Arcadia. Charles was a cattle rancher; he graduated from Tifton High School, and received his Bachelors in Science at the University of Florida, Animal Science Class of 1956. He was a member of the Florida Cattleman’s Association, was former President of the DeSoto Cattleman’s Association, former Director of Florida Cattleman’s Association, former Director of National Cattleman’s Association, Director of Farm Bureau for many years, and was extremely active in the Farm Bureau Agricultural Commission in the area of Agricultural. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Nell Harman. Charles is survived by his beloved wife Joyce Ray Harman, Arcadia; one daughter Nancy (Jeff) Adams, Arcadia, three half brothers, Robert ( Joy) Hall, Julian, NC, William (Kris) Hall, Herndon, VA, Stephen Hall, Milton, FL; two grand children, Charles Robert “Robb” Adams, and Logan Perry Adams. Visitation will be 6-8PM Sunday, December 16, 2007 at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home 50 N Hillsborough Ave in Arcadia. Services will be 11AM Monday, December 17, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church of Arcadia with Dr. Ted Land officiating. Burial will follow at Joshua Creek Cemetery.
