New “Grower Trials” Website Provides for Grower Info Sharing

Gary Cooper Citrus

When Barbara Carlton of the Peace River Valley Citrus Growers Association, and Orange-Co VP of Citrus Production Jerry Newlin, who also represents the Florida Citrus Production Managers Association, approached us at Southeast AgNet Southeast AgNetlate this week about the growers’ need for a web-based forum to share canker and greening ‘field trials’, we decided not to waste much time. These initial reports kick off a new part of this website called ‘grower trials’, Listen To wmaReport (1:00 wma)for which you will find a link under the ‘citrus’ news category here at AgNet Online. “Grower Trials” allow growers themselves to send in their own experiences to share, and to respond to others who send in their ideas. Citrus growers and industry leaders hope the direct and simple way of idea exchange will allow growers to learn more, more quickly, with regard to what works best and what does not in the effort to deal with canker and greening diseases in Florida. To participate by offering their own personal experiences, growers only need to send their experiences via e-mail, or via a word document attachment to an e-mail message, to growertrials@southeastagnet.com
