Survey Suggests Producers to Plant 8.11 Million Acres of Cotton

U.S. cotton producers intend to plant 8.11 million acres of cotton this spring, down 14 percent from 2008, according to the National Cotton Council’s 26th Annual Early Season Planting Intentions Survey. ARS Scientists Sequence Citrus Disease Bacterium

In what is being touted as a big step forward in citrus HLB, or greening disease, research, scientists with USDA’s Agriculture Research Service say they have sequenced the genome of the bacterium Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, which causes HLB.
