Axle Weight Bill Makes its Way Through Alabama’s Legislature

An axle weight bill is making its way through the Alabama Legislature. Currently, trucks are limited to loads of 80,000 pounds with a 10% variance, but with no more than 20,000 pounds per axle. Senate Bill 110, sponsored by Senator Jack Williams of Mobile County, would increase axle weights by 10 percent to 22,000 pounds plus the allowable load tolerance. …
