November Citrus Crop Forecast Has Decrease in Florida Oranges

Mark Hudson, with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, delivered the November citrus crop forecast. He reported a drop in Florida for all oranges of 6 million boxes. Non-Valencia and Valencia oranges are forecast at 37 million boxes each, down from the October forecast of 40 million boxes each. Florida Citrus Mutual Members Comment on Citrus Crop Forecast

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued its initial forecast Friday pegging the 2015-2016 Florida orange crop at 80 million boxes, down 17 percent from last season. The USDA estimated early-mid varieties at 40 million, down from 47.4 million at the end of last season, while the Valencia orange total is 40 million boxes compared to 49.3 million in 2014-15. …
