Alabama Counties Designated as Primary Natural Disaster Areas
WASHINGTON, Dec. 9, 2011—The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has designated six counties in Alabama as natural disaster areas due to losses caused by excessive rain, flooding, flash flooding, hail, high winds and tornadoes that occurred April 1-30, 2011. Researching Cotton Varieties That Allow for Decreased Nitrogen Inputs
As part of the research efforts from the Cotton Board’s research and promotion program, Kater Hake, Vice President of Agricultural Research for Cotton Incorporated has been working on a big hairy audacious goal to dramatically cut nitrogen inputs. Hake says they have seen progress in the effort by breeding for varieties that sacrifice protein in favor of oil and fiber. …
