The FARM Bill 2.0 which is being passed in Washington has some additional that will help the entire peanut industry.

The bill includes important provisions related to international and emergency food assistance programs, long-standing markets for U.S. peanut products. The allocation of $200 million annually will support this emergency food assistance program for the procurement and distribution of ready-to-use therapeutic foods which will provide meaningful benefits to the entire U.S. peanut industry. The transferring of the authority of the Food for Peace Act from the U.S. Agency for International Development, they’re going to move it to the Department of Agriculture.

It will expand opportunities for program participants and more people will be involved. The bill also reserves 50% of Food for Peace resources for U.S. grown commodities which will help ensure continued utilization of peanut products in these hunger programs. The U.S. Peanut Federation appreciates the hard work of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee in completing the FARM Bill and passing it out of the committee.
