Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tyler Harper has announced that the Georgia Farmland Conservation Fund Application period is now open and we caught up with Commissioner Harper for more details.

Commissioner Harper said, “So the Georgia Farmland Conservation Fund and the Georgia Farmland Conservation Council that works toward the protection of production agricultural land in the state of Georgia and it was created by the General Assembly, something that I championed during my first year as Commissioner of Agriculture. And we’re glad to have this off the ground and running so we can protect production ag land in our state in the perpetuity for agricultural purposes and give farm families just another option, another tool in the toolbox to help them ensure that they’re able to protect the farmland that they utilize and that we all need to produce the food, the fiber, the shelter that we rely on every single day.

“So we’re excited to get this off the ground, get it running. The Farmland Council, the Conservation Council has been meeting over the last year, putting all of this together and we’ve just rolled all of it out and opened the application period,” said Harper.
