Second MAHA Report Expected Soon — Modern Ag Alliance Reacts to Draft Findings

maha report

The highly anticipated second installment of the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) report is expected to be released soon. As producers and ag leaders await the final details, the Modern Ag Alliance is weighing in on what the next wave of findings could mean for the agriculture industry.

We spoke with Elizabeth Burns-Thompson of the Modern Ag Alliance, who shared insight into early drafts of the upcoming report and what it may signal for U.S. producers:

“So we saw the first of what will be a two-wave report from the MAHA or Make America Healthy Again Commission earlier this year and as of about a week or more ago we finally got to see or beginning to see what we think are drafts of the second report and for those that digging back into where that’s all coming from, the administration had commissioned a group to look at factors driving health concerns in the U.S. Unfortunately earlier this year we saw them point a lot of fingers towards modern agriculture, especially crop protection tools and the work that goes into approving and reviewing those tools.”

“What we are now seeing out of the drafts that have been circulated thus far, again those have not been officially released by the administration just yet, but from what we’ve seen that have circulated through some other news outlets thus far, we are pleased to see that it appears that the voice of the American farmer and the story of American agriculture has been heard by the administration and they’ve really changed their tone on agricultural tools and recognizing that we truly have the gold standard for those tools in this country.”

“We know the members of the administration have gone so far as to even come out and visit some farms, seeing some of the technology that we utilize on our operations today and get a real world understanding of these tools.”

With draft copies already circulating, farmers and ag advocates are hopeful that the final MAHA report will better reflect the realities of modern agriculture and the scientific rigor behind U.S. crop protection tools.
