As the Big Beautiful Bill advances in the U.S. Senate, cattle producers are keeping a close watch. NCBA President Buck Wehrbein shared his optimism, especially regarding estate tax reform—a top priority for the industry.

Senator John Thune has emerged as a strong ally, championing efforts to preserve the stepped-up basis and oppose the death tax. Wehrbein emphasized that while no bill is perfect, this package contains many of the provisions cattle producers need.

He also credited Speaker Johnson for rallying House support and acknowledged the leadership of President Trump in reviving one of his key first-term accomplishments. With the Senate now under pressure to pass the bill by July 4th, producers are hopeful it will move forward without major setbacks.

Wehrbein concluded that while compromises are inevitable, the core tax benefits for agriculture remain strong. Producers looking for long-term stability in tax policy may find this bill a solid foundation.
