US Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins visited Georgia this week meeting with agricultural producers, legislators and elected officials, and speaking at the annual meeting of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. Georgia state legislators and Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper met with Secretary Rollins at the state capitol to discuss the agricultural priorities in the state. The Secretary then visited the University of Georgia’s Iron Horse Plant Sciences Farm, engaging in a roundtable discussion with agriculture industry leaders on topics including the farm bill, strategies to address avian influenza, and expanding global markets. The Secretary then visited Precise Cattle, a family farm in Watkinsville, Georgia.
During her remarks at NRECA’s annual meeting, Secretary Rollins said, “Georgia’s farmers, ranchers, and rural communities are at the heart of American agriculture. Their insight is essential as we work to strengthen the industry for future generations. USDA remains committed to supporting Georgia agriculture and rural communities across the country as we step into the Golden Age of America under President Trump’s leadership.”
