AL Livestock Market Report:

At Alabama Livestock Auctions, for the week ended August 23, 2024, receipts at 16 markets totaled 12,961 head compared to 9,832 last week and 11,658 last year. Compared to last week: Slaughter cows sold 2.00 to 6.00 lower, slaughter bulls sold 2.00 to 4.00 higher.  Feeder steers sold sharply lower, feeder heifers and feeder bulls sold 2.00 to 9.00 lower. Trade moderate to active with moderate demand on feeder cattle. Replacement cattle sold steady.  Year-to-date receipts totaled 331,198 compared to 398,100 last year.
