The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries (ADAI) held a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday, April 15, for their new laboratory in Auburn, AL. Breaking ground in November of 2022, Commissioner Rick Pate expressed excitement at the laboratory’s swift completion. Replacing the over 50 year old Gilmer-Turnham Building, the newly constructed facility will house Alabama’s State Chemical Testing Laboratory and Pesticide Residue Laboratory.
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey was in attendance to offer remarks and tour the state-of-the-art facility. Referencing her previous participation when the project commenced Ivey said, “It’s nice to trade my ground breaking shovel for a big pair of ribbon cutting scissors.”
Making its home on Auburn University’s campus, university president Chris Roberts emphasized his appreciation for ADAI and the opportunities that the laboratory will present for students.
