Texas ranchers have battled intense wildfires since last week with over 1 million acres of the Texas Panhandle impacted. Texas leads the nation in cattle production with over 12,000,000 head in the state, accounting for 13.77% of the U.S. cowherd. 85% of Texas cattle is on operations in the panhandle, events that impact them directly impact the U.S. cattle industry.
