Cotton producers in Florida are invited to attend the first annual meeting of the Florida Cotton Growers Association. The meeting will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 6pm Central Time at the UF/IFAS Jackson County Extension Office in Marianna, Florida. All Florida cotton producers and associated businesses are invited to attend to learn about the purpose of the association and what it will mean for the Florida cotton industry.
Speakers at the event include Jaime Jerrels with the Florida Farm Bureau Federation. She will give a background of the Florida Cotton Growers Association. Kent Fountain, the 2020-2021 National Cotton Council Chairman, will discuss policy shaping the U.S. cotton industry. Chad Mathis, with Southern Cotton Growers, will talk about Southeast cotton policy objectives. David DeFelix with the Cotton Board will provide information about funding and priorities for cotton research. Don Jones, with Cotton Incorporated, will discuss implementation of ag research requests, and Monty Bain with the Cotton Board will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.
Dinner will be served, and producers are urged to attend the inaugural meeting of the Florida Cotton Growers Association.
