(ROBERTSDALE, AL/May 13, 2022) — Sweet Grown Alabama hosted its second annual farm to table dinner at Waters Edge in Robertsdale May 12. Nearly 150 attendees enjoyed a dinner of locally grown products, music from local duo Wylie Pete and Alabama farm scenery. Farmers, sponsors, local legislators and community members dined on eight classic southern dishes highlighting Sweet Grown Alabama products from beef to squash to pecans. Sweet Grown Alabama wine from Junavelli Winery in Brewton was also featured.

“Sweet Grown Alabama exists to connect Alabama consumers to locally grown items, and celebrating with an annual dinner is one of our favorite ways to show off the hard work of our over 300 members across the state,” said Sweet Grown Alabama Director Ellie Watson. “Supporting local not only benefits our economy and our environment, but local products just downright taste better.
”Contributing more than $70 billion annually, agriculture is a key component in Alabama’s economy. Studies show that for every dollar spent locally, 60 cents are reinvested into the community. “It was an honor to bring our flower centerpieces to the dinner and connect with other local farmers,” said fresh cut flower farmer Beth Holland of Happi Harvest farm in New Brockton. “A majority of my time is spent in the garden, so this was such a treat! The food was fantastic and the fellowship even better. Thank you Sweet Grown Alabama for the continued support.”
