New Actions to Help Farmers

During a visit to an Illinois farm Wednesday, President Joe Biden announced some new actions to help U.S. farmers in the wake of the Russia/Ukraine war. One of those measures includes double cropping and increasing the number of counties eligible for double cropping insurance.

And earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced $250 million would be made available through a new grant program to support American fertilizer production. This week, President Biden announced they are doubling that investment to $500 million to help lower costs and boost availability for farmers.

Plus, he announced another measure that would cut costs for farmers by increasing technical assistance for technology-driven precision agriculture and other nutrient management tools.
