The Georgia Cotton Commission (GCC) and University of Georgia (UGA) Cotton Team remind producers about the annual Georgia Cotton Commission meeting, scheduled for Jan. 26, 2022, at the University of Georgia Tifton Campus Conference Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Camp Hand, UGA Extension cotton agronomist, is excited to meet with the state’s producers, especially after the event was held virtually this past year due to COVID-19.
“We haven’t had that meeting in two years, so it’s going to be awesome to get everybody in the same room and compare notes on the year; see what went right and what went wrong and hopefully give us UGA folks ideas on what to look at in the future,” Hand said. “In terms of growers coming, that meeting is going to kick us off in terms of county production meetings this year. That’ll be your one-stop shop. Most of the specialists are going to have their breakout sessions and be able to talk about what they did this year, what they looked at. I know there’s a lot of the newer technologies on the horizon.
“There’s a lot of work that we’ve been doing this past year that we think is going to be really good for these growers to hear about and maybe take that back and plan for that this year. With the way inputs are looking this year, we all need to be on the same page in terms of what we’re doing, fertility wise, weed control wise.”
