It is cotton harvesting time across Georgia.
The Georgia Cotton Commission (GCC) reminds drivers to exercise caution this time of year, as cotton harvesters move up and down the roads, from fields to fields. Safety should be top priority, says Taylor Sills, executive director of the Georgia Cotton Commission.
“Our farmers are so important to us, not just in agriculture but to our state’s economy. To all our civilians out on the road, give them a little extra space,” Sills said. “Slow down. Give them some room. Their task is very important. It’s important to not only our state, but it’s important to your local and rural communities. Just give them some room as they go about their task. It’s very important to all of us.”
According to UGA Extension, Georgia ranks third in cotton production and planted acres.
