The Georgia Cotton Commission (GCC) is helping those in need this holiday season. Taylor Sills, executive director of the Georgia Cotton Commission, said the organization is giving out socks to homeless resource centers across the state. The second annual sock drive started last Thursday.

“This is the second year of our sock donation program. Last year we donated 12,000 pairs of socks to the Atlanta Mission. This year we wanted to spread that out in all areas of the state,” Sills said. “We started in Valdosta, and Albany, Athens, Gainesville, Columbus, Atlanta, Rome and we still are going to go to Augusta, Macon, Savannah and Brunswick; 12,000 pairs across the state, on behalf of our farmers. It’s a way for our farmers to give back a portion of their crop to those in need.

“2020 has been a hard year for farmers and our communities as a whole. This is a way for farmers to give back to their communities to help those in need.”
