The Beef Checkoff program, established as part of the 1985 Farm Bill, continues to collect only $1 per head on the sale of live domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a comparable assessment on imported beef and beef products. It was designed to increase the profit opportunities for producers across the country. Georgia Beef Board (GBB) Executive Vice President, Dale Sandlin, explains the return in value producers are getting for that one dollar.
