For the past couple of weeks, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) crop specialists have been conducting auxin herbicide trainings at various locations across the state to help producers fulfill Xtendimax, FeXapan and Engenia label requirements.
These trainings are designed for producers who plant cotton and soybean varieties that are resistant to dicamba herbicides. Before making these herbicide applications, producers must have state certification and annual training because of a high injury risk. The program is designed to help applicators reduce herbicide drift incidents with susceptible crops, and also provide information on technical application methods, tank cleanout and new chemistry.
The producer, certified applicator or person responsible for the application on resistant cotton and soybean varieties in Alabama, must receive this training. Though trainings were offered in 2019, this program will highlight new information and research updates as well as information covered in previous trainings.
These meetings will pick back up again in February and continue through March 16. Registration is $15. For more information, click here or call your county Extension office.
