Cotton harvest across the Southeast continues to move along. USDA meteorologist, Brad Rippey, says the pace of the nation’s cotton harvest is ahead of the five year average.

When it comes to the peanut crop, most states are done, or almost done with harvest with the exception of one. And according to Rippey, this is the last peanut harvest progress report of the season.

In Alabama, 92 percent of the cotton crop has been harvested, which compares to only 77 percent this time last year. 97 percent of the peanuts have been harvested, which compares to 90 percent last year.

In Florida, 84 percent of the cotton crop has been harvested, which compares to only 39 percent this time last year. And as we told you last week, peanut harvest in the state has ended.

In Georgia, 85 percent of the cotton crop has been harvested, which compares to only 71 percent this time last year. 99 percent of the peanut crop has been harvested, which compares to 92 percent last year.
