Everett Griner talks about one of the most important necessities of farming, and it’s cost in today’s Agri View.
Necessities of Farming
Irrigation is one of the necessities of farming in today’s world of agriculture. In a dry season it is one of the costliest parts of raising a crop. I didn’t figure this out. It was in a recent list of expenses in modern agriculture that farmers didn’t have in the beginning.
You see, it takes a lot of money to put down a well deep enough to supply the water necessary to wet a field. The irrigation system doesn’t come cheap.
Here is a statistic I never considered. The cost of irrigating a field. $8.50 to put one inch of water on an acre of land. You wet 100 acres, it will cost you $850.00. Now, anybody can see that, 2 or three times a year, makes irrigation one of the most costliest applications. But, you have to have it.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
