Everett Griner talks about the potato being the world’s most versatile vegetable in today’s Agri View.
The Versatile Potato
When was the last time you ate a potato? I bet it hasn’t been to long. More potatoes are eaten by more people than any other vegetable in the world. But let’s talk here in America.
White potatoes, red potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams. I can’t think pof any more. The first Idaho potatoes were grown in Idaho. They are grown in many states today but those grown in Idaho are still Idaho potatoes.
The red potatoes was first grown in Alabama. It was never called the Alabama potato.
They look alike and taste alike. Yams and the sweet potato are two different potatoes. The sweet potato is grown in Mississippi. They have a strong preference among consumers. I don’t know why. They just do.
My only questions would be…why are potatoes so common? And…why to they all have eyes?
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
