Everett Griner talks about Secretary Perdue’s seven-point outline for the 2018 Farm Bill in today’s Agri View.
Farm Bill
Well, at least farmers know what is in the new farm bill that Congress is dealing with. USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue has made public his seven-point outline, which most farmers, maybe all of them, would accept.
Briefly, a financial safety net for farmers, improving U.S. competitiveness, safeguarding the domestic food supply, an effective food and safety and inspection service, and, an effort to support rural prosperity.
Now to most farmers, this sounds like politics. Well, that is exactly what it is. But, if things go well, and Congress approves it, the bill will at least give American farmers a plan that will keep American agriculture prosperous.
Now, it is all in the hands of Congress.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner.
