During this week and throughout the year, the Southeastern Coastal Center for Agricultural Health and Safety is encouraging farmers in the Southeast to make safety a priority on the farm.

“The center is bringing awareness to agricultural health and safety in the Southeast, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands,” said Southeastern Coastal Center for Agricultural Health and Safety Director Glenn Morris. “Making safety and health priorities in agricultural communities helps save lives and resources through the prevention of injuries and lost time on the job.”

The center will also be releasing an exclusive webinar on the assessment of agricultural liability to cap off the week on March 9. The webinar will be delivered by associate professor of family, youth and community sciences Martie Gillen.

The Southeastern Coastal Center for Agricultural Health and Safety provides resources throughout the year on various agricultural health and safety topics, including worker protection standards, pesticide safety, heat stress, boating and fishing, and forestry worker safety.

The Agricultural Safety Awareness Program is a part of the Farm Bureau Health and Safety Network of professionals who share an interest in identifying and decreasing safety and health risks. For more information and resources, visit the ASAP Facebook page.
