The 2nd Annual Georgia Citrus Association Conference will be held next Monday, February 26 at the University of Georgia Tifton Campus Conference Center.

georgia citrusLindy Savelle, president of the Georgia Citrus Association, told AgNet Media that while the first conference went well, the second conference will be even better. She said “We listened to what the comments were from last year.” Those comments led to the association providing more vendors, which include businesses like nurseries, consultants, insurance companies and fertilizer companies.

Another comment the association will implement into this year’s event is splitting the informational sessions into smaller groups, as well as creating some sessions for beginners and some sessions for veteran citrus growers.

The conference will include four panels. A “growing citrus” panel will discuss production fundamentals. An “industry” panel will consist of those involved in Keeping Georgia Citrus Clean. The “best product” panel will discuss everything from getting good agricultural practices certified to the marketing aspects of Georgia Grown, and the “practical applications” panel will consist of growers discussing the day-to-day practices of producing citrus.
