Cathy Isom has some savvy ways to save on this year’s Thanksgiving meal. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.
The holidays can get pretty pricey, especially if you’re in charge of feeding the entire family. Count your holiday blessings and pennies with these quick and easy tips to save.
#1 Create a budget and plan the menu carefully. If no one likes cranberry sauce, don’t bother throwing it in the shopping cart.
#2 Ask guests to bring something to share. Whether it’s a side dish, dessert or beverage. Make a list and ask friends to pick which items they’d prefer to bring so you don’t end up with ten pumpkin pies.
#3 Do your homework. Shop around and compare prices, even if it means making a couple extra stops on the way home. Look for FREE turkey promotions. Many large supermarket chains will throw in the bird for free if you spend more than a certain amount.
#4 When it comes to holiday decorations, get crafty and stop at the dollar stores for the best prices on supplies. Even if you decide to toss them instead of storing for next year, you know you didn’t spend a fortune.
