The dairy industry gathered recently in California at the 101st Annual Meeting of the National Milk Producers Federation in Anaheim. For the last 20 years, the meeting has been held in conjunction with the National Dairy Checkoff. Chris Galen with the National Milk Producers Federation says there are many topics on the table for the dairy industry.
In regard to NAFTA, Galen says the positive is that the talks continue, but the negative is that no real progress has been made.
The Dairy Pride Act continues to gain support in Washington D.C. and Galen explains why this is so important for producers and consumers.
On the farm bill front, Galen says there are some short-term goals that can be accomplished while keeping in mind the long-term objectives of the bill.
Chris Galen is the Senior Vice President of Communications for the National Milk Producers Federation.
