USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Alabama has a variety of programs that can benefit producers and landowners in many ways. Some of those can be found through the Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP). It provides financial and technical assistance to agricultural producers in order to address natural resource concerns and deliver environmental benefits such as improved water and air quality, conserved ground and surface water, reduced soil erosion and sedimentation or improved or created wildlife habitat. Alabama State Conservationist Ben Malone says EQIP is their flagship program.
