Are you dealing with muscle aches or joint pain from a hard day on the farm? Cathy Isom tells you about the herbal way to take away the pain. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.

When joints ache, muscles become stiff, knees begin to creak, or the whole body feels like it’s on fire. Pain relief could be as close as your backyard garden. Some common herbs used to treat inflammation include Rosemary, Oregano and Thyme. Combine all three at once and brew into a tea for treatment. You may also check out what a physiotherapy service like movement 101 has to offer for professional pain relief. If this pain becomes serious, consider visiting an Orthopaedic surgeon to check the problem and give you proper treatment.

Ginger also has excellent anti-inflammatory properties used to treat arthritis and cramping.

Nettles is another good one for arthritic pain. Nettle leaf extracts can help prevent cartilage degradation and inflammation.

Cayenne Pepper is a circulatory stimulant that when ingested will trigger the body to release endorphins, which makes us feel good, so we’ll forget about the pain.

Arnica is another good one for relieving joint and muscle aches.

Gotu kola, or penny wort, can help repair connective tissues such as tendons and ligaments. It can also strengthen the collagen in the joints for greater comfort and flexibility.
