Agriculture faces a serious problem before it reaches the challenge of feeding nine billion people. Not enough young people. The gap is between the farm and the consumer. One study shows that the gap is widening every year. It shows that our colleges and universities are not teaching the understanding of agriculture.  In other words a student graduates with a degree but does not pursue the career he is trained for. An example is: a student graduates with a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, but a career in Electronics. Or educated in Ag Marketing but winds up teaching fifth grade English. What they are not being taught is the importance of agriculture to the future. Without this change, feeding nine billion is a very serious challenge, and, it is one we may not be able to meet.
