HM.CLAUSE Seed Company, and representatives of its Harris Moran brand, brought some farm journalists from the United States and France to the fields of South Florida this week to learn firsthand about some of the research and development going on in the field of new product development. The group is working its way across the state’s south end from West Palm Beach to Naples, and will wrap up its tour early next week in Gainesville with meetings and tours at University of Florida and some of its research facilities.
The first stop was a radish field being harvested at Roth Farms, where Belle Glade, Florida farmer Rick Roth explains the value of seed variety research to farmers in his area.
In the audio interview in this news post, Rick Roth talks with AgNet Media’s Gary Cooper about seed company and farmer cooperation in seed development research. He also makes some pointed comments about legislative issues presently facing farmers in his area of the state, including water issues and an environmental debate he says favors farmers if the facts of science are properly considered.
