The “Top 5” Alabama restaurants in the “Alabama’s Best Steak” contest, sponsored by the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association, were named September 27th at the fall Board meeting held at the Cattlemen’s Building in Montgomery. Association President, Donna Jo Curtis of Athens made the announcement before an audience of 103 cattle producer leaders from 45 counties. The restaurants receiving the most votes in the online contest were (alphabetical order): Conestoga Steakhouse, Dothan; Fire Steakhouse, Atmore; McLin’s Restaurant, Daleville; Nick’s Ristorante, Huntsville and The Bright Star, Bessemer.
A team of anonymous judges will now visit each of the Top 5 restaurants to determine who serves the best steak in Alabama. On October 26th, ACA leaders will be on site at the winning restaurant to present the winning award and crown “Alabama’s Best Steak”!
Since its inception on July 1st, the contest has drawn consumers around the state to an online survey to cast their vote for their favorite steak restaurant. The statewide contest included 147 restaurants being nominated and 7,242 votes cast online. The voting ended September 21st. The Alabama’s Best Steak contest is a part of a statewide celebration of October Beef Month.
