Another piece of legislation that was passed by the U.S. House last week before they left for the August recess was the Preserving America’s Family Farm Act. It was a response to a proposed Department of Labor rule which was withdrawn in April that was originally designed to restrict youth from working on family farms and ranches. The new measure, House Bill 4157, prohibits the Labor Secretary from finalizing or enforcing its previously proposed rule. Companion legislation has also been introduced in the Senate as S. 2221 has 44 co-sponsors.
