Tallahassee, Fla. (Governor’s Press Office) – Governor Rick Scott has announced the reappointment of Doug Bournique to the Area 5 seat on the Governing Board of the St. Johns River Water Management District. Bournique, 60, of Vero Beach, has been the executive vice president of the Indian River Citrus League since 1979. Previously, he was the director of environmental relations from 1978 to 1979 and an environmental specialist from 1975 to 1978 for the Florida Sugar Cane League. His extensive involvement in agricultural and water management issues includes serving on the Indian River County Agriculture Advisory Council since 1996 and on the Florida Agriculture Water Policy Group since 1999. Since 2009, he has been a member of the Federal Reserve Bank Agriculture Advisory Council. In addition, he has been a member of the Indian River County Economic Development Council since 2004 and a member of the United States Department of Agriculture Citrus Crop Estimates Advisory Committee since 1995. Bournique received a bachelor’s degree from Whittier College. He is reappointed for a term beginning June 19, 2012, and ending March 1, 2016.
The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
